delay in notification from credit card module

Is there some reason that the length of time between notification that an order has been received, and the now-required subsequent notification of additional credit card data to complete an authorization or sale, ranges between 29 and 57 minutes?

This has become an issue because orders displayed in the admin module now represent credit cards with an 9999XXXXXXXX9999 string, and a subsequent electronic mail message is required to obtain the numeric equivalent of the XXXXXXXX portion of the card number before processing can occur.

Everything appears to be configured correctly, and our web server, mail server and a DNS server are co-located in house. So why the inordinate delay?

    Hi Kim,

we are using the default credit card selection in the defalut payment module. Our cart is 1.3.0. PHP 4.4.1 OSX Apache 1.3.33 MySql 4.0.21

The only change since the upgrade from the 1.2.5 cart was the addition of an email address in the Split Credit Card Email Address, otherwise all of the values came through on the upgrade.

    regards

    Hi Kim,

Under Email Options: Email Transport Method is currently Sendmail.

Should it be set to SMTP?

    Regards,

... That is a possibility. Is that what your server is using?

    So Kim,

You pointed me in the right direction.

I will READ more carefully next time. Setting the mail to SMTP instead of Sendmail fixed the problem.

There were extenuating issues, but that was the crux of it.

Thanks for making such a great cart!

    Cheers,

    Cliff
