Images Not Showing

Hi,

Last week I tried to upload an image for a category, but the image did not show and appeared as a white box with red cross in. I tried changing the image of a different category and the same thing happened to that also. In the end I had to create new categories and the images now work ok.

Unfortunately the same thing is happening with my attribute images, however when I delete the attribute and add it again the image still does not show.

The screenshot shows one of my products with none of the attribute images showing.

If I try and open them from the ftp site I get the same thing, just the white box with red cross. If I upload them manually I get the same thing. However I have uploaded a random image from my desktop and that worked OK. I even re-sized the random image to the exact same size as an image that doesn't show and it still works ok.

I even re-named the random image to the same name as an image that wasn't working, uploaded it overiding the problematic image and opened the new one and it worked.

Any ideas?

What are the permissions on the directory:
/images/attributes

Thanks for your reply but it seems that it was an issue with the images themselves. If I open them in photoshop and save for web, they work.

Not sure why yet but will look into it.
