Sorry, i posted something else but i ended up not needing to.
Hi I desperately need help. I am having the same problem as you guys had. I have done what you mentioned:
Go to ADMIN... CONFIGURATION... SESSIONS... RECREATE SESSIONS... set this to FALSE
But it isn't working for me. I tried with existing customers and new customers but still no luck. When the customer returns and provides correct email and password the error is: "There was a security error when trying to login."
My domain host is 'Nameroute' and I don't think it's anything to do with them as the admin access etc works.
Please someone HELP!!!!

Shah, make sure you have the two configure.php files installed. There was a security token change and you need to have the two files, do a search in customers can't login and you'll find a post that tells you how to do it. Had the same problem, was pulling my hair out untill i discovered the internet, and the search button here in the forums
I am also experiencing this problem with the security error when trying to login. I still haven't been able to resolve it. If anyone knows how to fix it please reply. The thing with two configure.php files - what does it mean? When you install clean zen-cart of the latest version, do I need to worry about the two configure.php? Any specific help, please do!!!!
This is interesting... I have tried both mozilla firefox and internet explorer trying to login, and kept getting the same error. I have just tried opera, and have been able to login without any errors! Does anybody know how it happened, and can anybody suggest anything, so that the customers would be able to login from any browser?
Could you post your file, from the server, without your username and password for:
/includes/configure.php
If you Admin is working fine, also post, from the server, without your username and password, the file:
/admin/includes/configure.php

I have solved the problem finally. The problem was that I was using russian version of zen-cart 1.3.8a (at least this is what they wrote). I guess it was some other version kind of half upgraded to 1.3.8a. I have downloaded the latest version of zen-cart from the website and installed a russian language module. Now I have russian zen-cart and it works! No more security errors so far!
Thanks for the update that you have gotten everything working again ...

Hi,
I'm also a Dreamhost customer and having the same problem. I've tried the above suggestion of setting recreate session to false and it doesn't work for me. I've read a bunch of threads on this and can't get my cart working (can add items but it gets zeroed on checkout and I get the whoops message).
Thanks for any help,
Tom
