    Default Discounted flag affects shipping

    Can someone just clarify the function of the discounted flag in attributes please?

    I assumed this would only affect prices if a sale was set up but it appears not to be the case. I'm using price based zone rates and if the attribute pushes the order total into the next shipping range the attribute value is ignored in the shipping calculation if the flag isn't changed from its default value.

    For example: zone rates are set as 50:10,150:7

    Product 1 £48
    Attribute gift wrap +£4.00

    With the discounted flag set (ie default) on the attribute the shipping cost shows as £10 even if gift wrap is selected. If the flag is switched off then shipping calculates correctly.

    It's not a problem now I know this is what happens but I'd just like to understand it better. v 1.2.6

    Generally- if you do not recieve a response to a question, it is because you have not given enough information to make a diagnosis. Perhaps you could give us the URL and step by step what is happening or not happening?

    How are you configuring the actual Attribute?

    Thanks for the replies. Set up is as follows:

    I have set up a product with a price of £48. Product is priced by attributes.

    Product has an attribute 'gift wrap' with a price of £4.00

    Shipping (zones) up to £50 is £10.00. Over £50 is £12.00. Therefore if the product is selected without gift wrap the shipping cost should be £10.00 and if gift wrap is selected then shipping should be £12.00

    The gift wrap option name is set as a checkbox. I have one option value to go with it.

    In the Attributes Controller if I leave the the discount flag at its default ie Yes then when I go to checkout and select gift wrap, although the price is shown correctly it has no affect on the shipping. If I change the attribute so that the discount flag is set to no then all is well.

    My question therefore is whether this functionality is correct. My assumption was that the discount flag should have no effect unless a sale was set up. Is this assumption wrong?

    Thanks Linda for taking a look. I've looked at 1.3 again and was wrong - it does work there (working too late - sorry!) so just an issue in 1.2.6. However, setting the discount flag to No has worked so I'll leave it at that.
