Displaying Categories with Icons instead of Text

I wanted to be able to display categories on the homepage by using their icon instead of displaying the actual text. Is there something out there that will allow this?

The solution to this has just been posted by bmac here for displaying images instead of text in the category tabs in the header.

If you want to display them somewhere else, the code is probably adaptable.

And if you just want the category images in the center of the main/home page in addition to the normal sidebox, see Kim's post. It may take some work to eliminate the titles under the images, though. (If you don't want the sidebox list, you can turn that off in admin > Tools > Layout Boxes Controller.)
