thanks again Linda - i checked a number of the products randomly and they're all set to the master category but the sale is still not happening.

any other ideas?

These products are not marked Priced by Attribute are they?

ok i'm clueless again - how would i check if they are priced by attribute?

I am doubting that is an issue here ...

But in checking, just edit the product and see if it is marked:
Priced by Attribute YES

What are the settings that you are using on the Sale?

Is the Sale Active?

ah ok - all the products are marked with "No" for Price by Attribute.

just checked the setting on the sale ::

Deduction : 60 Percent
Products Pricerange : 0.0000 to 100.0000
If a Product is a Special : Ignore Specials Price - Apply to Product Price and Replace Special
Starts : Immediately
Expires : 08/07/2006

and it's got the green active light on.

And you have marked a category for this?

And those Products in the marked Category are using that categories_id as their master_categories_id

i cant seem to find the catagory status, i know how to disable it, but then it says all linked products will be disabled and i dont think thats what you meant. So at the moment everyone can see hte hidden catagory. how do i make it so its invisible and actually hidden
