    Default How to Ban User

I would like to ban a user that is being abusive. When I access their customer information page there is a dropdown menu where I can alter their authorization status (i.e. customer may browse but not purchase) but when I apply this setting NOTHING happens!

Is there anything I can do to ban or block users?

    THX!

I've tried to do this too, and it doesn't work. I'm wondering if there's some way to ban their IP address. You can delete the customer, but al they have to do is come back and register again. Any help out there???

See if your hosting control panel (cPanel, others) has an area where you can ban certain IPs or IP ranges. Most do.
Make regular site and database backups!

I was able to ban the IP address through my control panel from my host but IP's can change from time to time..

Why would there be such a function in zen cart ( that limits certain people's ability to make purchases) and then it doesn't work?

Any way to Ban a User?

I looked in 1.3.7 but couldn't find any such option.

    Thanks

Yes, I too was dissapointed that the authorisation controls didn't work in 1.3.7. It would be good to disable a customer account by switching them to 'pending approval' yet leave the account intact so that they cannot re-register using the same email address. This works very well on another CMS I use.

IP banning is a very un-precise solution.

Is this on the to-do list?

    Update:

If some people are still interested to have this feature; it is almost done. I took a couple of hours to code this up and it looks pretty good. Further details will be posted later on an official topic.

I would be careful on "IP banning" -- that is, unless you don't care about potential "after affects". Since a number of IP's on the Internet can be dynamic among users (they change), you may block one IP address and then that same person is "leased" a new IP .. thus being able to access your store still.

It is odd to block users from a store? Are you looking for "a form of fraud prevention"? If that is the case, then your merchant provider may already have this in place. If not, there is a "basic" way to do this by comparing a few items when users enter the site.

It is not built into Zen, and would have to be coded, but let's see what TheOracle comes up with. IT may be the ticket to what you are looking for.

Also, if there is a customer causing problems, what is to prevent them from registering under a different name and email once you block them from the Admin?
