Default Re: First Steps to Setting Up Your Online Shop

    Hello to all!

Brand new here and have some problems. When I bring up my store, there is this message: Congratulations! You have successfully installed your Zen Cart™ E-Commerce Solution.
Welcome Guest! Would you like to log yourself in?"

If I click on login, I get a 404 error.

Also, how do I get rid of the Welcome message?

I know how to remove boxes of the left and right, how can I rename the boxes or add new boxes?

How do I edit the "Sales Message Goes Here"?

Sorry for so many questions at once. I appreciate any help you folks can offer.

    Love the product!

    Sandman-

Please- One step at a time.

Start by fixing your login error. Did you enable SSL/HTTPS when installing? If so you need to disable it for now.

    See this FAQ:
    http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/faq.ph...q_disable_ssl_

After you fix that Have a peek at the other FAQs, I think that all of your other questions have topics there.

    Hi Kim,

Thanks for the direction BUT I am not sure if I enabled SSL during the install. Also, not sure about the FAQ answer:

    How do I disable SSL?
    Change includes/configure.php and admin/includes/configure.php to:

// Define the webserver and path parameters
define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://www.YOUR_SHOP.com'); // eg, http://localhost - should not be empty for productive servers
define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://www.YOUR_SHOP.com'); // eg, https://localhost - should not be empty for productive servers
define('ENABLE_SSL', false); // secure webserver for checkout procedure?

Could you walk me through what this is doing? What is a productive server?

I went to the includes/configure.php file on my server and got an error that said:

    Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /zencart/includes/configure.php on this server

Why wouldn't I have acces. I changed the access level to read/write, is there anything else I should do?

Thanks in advance for any help!

    Sandman
