    Switch to a Zen supported hosting environment. I used to have Godaddy premier which was terrible......30-90 seconds with timeouts. I switched to sashbox.net and am getting response times 3 seconds avg. plus don't have to set CURL settings. All of this and still save $5/month.

    Or if you're linux-skilled, roll your own environment in a VPS setting.

    I use http://www.vpslink.com, where I built a custom Gentoo system using VPSLink 3. I run ZC under Apache2, PHP 5, MySQL 4.1 -- all compiled by me. I needed Curl for Linkpoint, so I installed it. I needed to generate an SSL cert, so I did so.

    The appeal for me of a VPS solution is that I have complete control over the software in use. Of course, it's up to me to keep that system healthy, and to implement appropriate security measures to protect myself and my customers. For example, VPSLink does no firewalling for me, so it's up to me to install and configure IPTables on my 'host'.

    I pay $24.95, but of course, I do a lot more there than run ZC. I host multiple forums, a Joomla site, a large Gallery2 installation.

    help question Re: LinkPoint and GoDaddy

    I'm now searching for a payment gateway, and deciding on a host. My domains are parked at Godaddy, and since I have a business account with a First Data affiliate, naturally I've been considering Linkpoint and Godaddy to keep the relationships I already have.

    So, I took this thread to heart. The original post by Dr.Byte was disconcerting and so I confronted Godaddy and this was the reply.

    Thank you for contacting online support. I do apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, if you are trying to establish a connection through a port that is not allowed on our shared hosting plans, you may be able to setup via proxy. This will require customer coding/scripting in which support is not offered by Go Daddy.

    The address of the proxy server is proxy.shr.secureserver.net and connections will be made on port 3128.

    The following lines must be included in each script that is utilizing the cURL function.

    curl_setopt ($ch, CURLOPT_HTTPPROXYTUNNEL, TRUE);
    curl_setopt ($ch, CURLOPT_PROXYTYPE, CURLPROXY_HTTP);
    curl_setopt ($ch, CURLOPT_PROXY, http://proxy.shr.secureserver.net:3128);
    curl_setopt ($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER, FALSE);

    Please let us know if we can help you in any other way.

    Regards,

    Robbie P

    Robbie P missed the whole point that Linkpoint is looking for port 1129.
    I guess my next move is to contact Linkpoint and see what they say.
    Godaddy is quite a large host and it would seem self-destructive to make it difficult for Godaddy hostees to use the API.

    Anyone know if something has changed since the last postings?

    linkpoint will NOT budge on 1129, and godaddy is using this as a way to sell you a VPN

    help question Re: LinkPoint and GoDaddy

    I am currently using Os Commerce for my online store and have a Linkpoint Connect module working without a problem with a regular godaddy Linux hosting account.

    Can't the Linkpoint API module for Zen Cart be modified for Linkpoint Connect or can the Linkpoint Connnect module for Os Commerce be adapted for Zen Cart?
