    Default "Showcase" mode Category?

One of the items we sell is original, handmade jewelry. I'd like to create a showcase category so that when a piece is sold I could transfer it to that category rather then disabling it or marking it as sold. Visually, this would be much nicer if I could avoid having either the price or a "sold" sign, allowing these sold pieces to be just truly "showcased."

    Is this an option?

Thanks for any and all comments and suggestions.

You could mark it for display only after it is sold and move it to another category that you create as your showcase. Additionally, you could replace the 'sold' image with either one of your design or a transparent image.

Hi Kobra - Thanks for replying

When you say mark it for display only, how do I do this?

I thought about replacing the "sold" image (I didn't think of making it transparent, however. Clever!) but wouldn't it then be replaced store-wide? I only want this to occur in my new "Showcase" Category.

    Thanks again

I've located 'display only' in Attributes but can't get my brain around how I would use it in this instance. Any suggestions?

    Thanks

I guessed that you were using attributes. You Might be able to get what you want by setting the options in admin > configuration > stock

    allow checkout set to false
Mark product out of stock set to blank
Products status in Catalog when out of stock should be set to - set to "1"

When you move this to the showcase add an attribute if there are none(might call it SHOWCASE) and set the item to display only.

The stock settings allow the item to be displayed even if out of stock
The "Display Only" should allow it to be displayed without the "out of stock" and if it does not set the stock to "1" as "Display Only" will prevent a purcahse.
