New Products Listing???

I have done quite a bit of searching and there are topics and questions re the new products listing but none are quite the same as mine. If I just didn't look far enough I apologize for taking your time.

Can someone tell me how it is determined what products show in the New Products Lisitng on the main page. And how many are shown. I have 9 showing now and some of them have been there for 3 months. And they change and are not just the nine newest products added.

In the Maximum Values ... there is a setting for "what" is a New Product ...

New Product Listing - Limited to ...
Limit the New Product Listing to
0= All Products
1= Current Month
7= 7 Days
14= 14 Days
30= 30 Days
60= 60 Days
90= 90 Days
120= 120 Days

From those products the Random and then the Display are grabbed ...

We try to include something about all new toys and features added plus additional switches etc. to each release ...

Note: this one has been there for some time now ...

But you would be amazed at all the nifty things built into Zen Cart that you have always dreamed about ... and never knew were already there ...

hey all.

I was asking myself this very same question, found it within seconds. I do have another (surprise surprise) my client has several of the same item (very slight differences but same image for all) so sadly the 6 new items (though its set to 0 for all) are often the same items, which looks kinda rubbish.

does anyone know of a way of either specifying that of the new items shown on a page only 2 from each category, any 2 is fine, or better still one from each category, random?

Increase how many are selected for the randomization ...

Otherwise, you would need to customize this further ... which could be done ... to prevent duplicates or add limitations based on categories_id or something ...

I'm actually trying to find out how to remove the 'New Products for September' all together from the main page. I tried setting the new products listing to 0, this didn't get rid of the main page listing but it did remove all the products from the new listed link under catagories.

Peek in the Configuration ... Layout Settings ...

Turn off the New Products Link:

Categories Box - Show Products New Link
Show Products New Link in the Categories Box

There is also one there for the Specials Link:

Categories Box - Show Specials Link
Show Specials Link in the Categories Box

And the Featured Products Link:

Categories Box - Show Featured Products Link
Show Featured Products Link in the Categories Box

And the All Product Link:

Categories Box - Show Products All Link
Show Products All Link in the Categories Box

NOTE: these links also are controlled by IF there is something to show ... so if No New Products exist or No Specials or No Featured ... they will also turn off on their own ...

Yea that part I knew how to turn off, i don't mind the 'new link' under catagories, I'm trying to turn off the 'New products in september'

scroll down the page and you'll see a box heading 'new products in september' that's the box i want to go away. i dont see it in the layout box controller or anywhere else?

is this one of those things that will go away when October rolls around?
