    Default configure.php write issue

I havnt used my zencart which is on my host , but decided to give it a go after paying over £20 a month for a site.

I downloaded the changed files for the upgrade and as far as i know, copied them all up in the correct place etc.

    When running it i get

    * admin configure.php is not writeable more info...
    * store configure.php is not writeable more info...

on the first screen, and this when i click for more info

If you are using a Unix or Linux system then please CHMOD the file to 777 or 666 until the Zen Cart™ install is completed. This can usually be done by way of your FTP program (right-click or edit file properties, etc).

I have checked them in the hosts ftp program and both read and write are ticked.
Am i missing something , or is it best to reinstall from scratch.

Cheers for any help.... eager to get configuring

and i looked at the configure.php file as Im not sure if i need to change the database name as i havnt actually used the cart yet, but it seemed to have text and machine code in there , is that right or is it corrupt..

What was your old version? If not v1.3.0.1 you should be using the Full Zen Cart v1.3.0.2 not the changed files ...

The 2 configure.php are wanting to be read/write as in 777
    /includes/configure.php
    /admin/includes/configure.php

And if upgrading use the Upgrade Database button not the Install as that wipes out the whole database ...

    Hi

Whats this 777 you and the docs mention, gone a bit over my head?

It was 3.0.1 i had before but im not worried about the datebase as it was empty anyway

Ah done it , had to put them to Execute and it made them 777
(Do I need to remove this once its installed?)

One last thing, I also get

    Register Globals = ON
    PHP session.use_trans_sid = ON

Are these normal, or could someone explain if i need them ON or OFF

    Many Thanks

Register Globals can be on or off ... OFF is more secure.
use_trans_sid NEEDS TO BE OFF ... so be sure to disable it. The popup help ("... more info") link has details on possible approaches.
