PayPal in USD and other currency (default)?

I have a site using a currency not supported by PayPal yet.

Can I somehow have two currencies active, not showing the "Chose currency sidebox" (thus force the customer using the currency not supported by PayPal) - and have the PayPal payment module using the USD?

Thus get the PayPal payment module telling PayPal to charge in USD - and using IPN to tell the ZenCart that payment is done...?

    This will be the scenario:

Customer buys some item in NOK
    Chose "PayPal" to pay
ZenCart sends info to PayPal - using USD as currency
Customer pays using credit card or PayPal account
    Customer returns to ZenCart
Customer receives receipt from PayPal and ZenCart
I receive payment from PayPal - and a notice that the order has been paid

    ??? - any ideas?

If you are using Zen Cart v1.3.0.2 or newer, along with the paypal patch I posted in the Bug Reports area 2 weeks ago, and the security fixes I published this week ... then Yes, you can.

You will need to be sure that you have USD set up as a currency in your site, with the appropriate exchange rate set.
Then set the PayPal module to use USD only.

It will convert the value to USD when placing the order.

I saw your post about different currencies and wondered if you could advise me.

We are based in the UK and run Zencart in pounds sterling. We sell to many customers in the US and would like to charge them a lower price than the rest of the world and charge them in USD. Any ideas how we could do that in Zen? We're really happy to pay a developer to set it up for us if someone knows how to!
    Thanks

You are talking about multiple-currency support, which is unrelated to the PayPal topic in this discussion thread.

Here are some FAQ articles which will help explain currency support:

If you have further questions about setting up currencies in Zen Cart, please check the forum posts in the currencies section and if necessary, post a new topic there for your question(s).
