Scrolling Whats New Sidebox

Hi, Inspired by my specials scrolling sidebox I have made the same thing for the whats new sidebox.

This basically takes x amount of new products from the database where x is the value set in maximum values in the admin config section. loads them into and array and then scrolls it using the marquee tag in IE.

There are some configurable options in the page itself:

$scroll_amount =    "1"; // scroll amount
$scroll_delay =     "5";  // scroll delay
$scroll_direction = "up"; // scroll direction (can be up, down, left or right)
$scroll_behaviour = "scroll"; // scroll behaviour (can be scroll, alternate or slide) ** Seems to make no diff **
$box_height =       "160"; // height of whats new box

You can change these to modify how the sidebox is displayed and looks. I created this using 1.3 code and i have not tested on anything below 1.3.

Installation is easy just upload tpl_whats_new.php to your template override dir:

/includes/templates/%your_template%/sideboxes

Thanks sn0ut very cool sidebox. I'm having a little trouble with it. Everything works perfectly- except it shows my oldest items instead of my newest. Can you assist? thanks so much! ryan

Nevermind! my problem was that I hadnt changed in Config-max values... for it to just show the products from the past month. it was set to all- in case someone else has this same problem

I'm having a problem trying to get your contribution to work on my site.
I have all 3 parts of the original whats_new correctly installed from my 1.3.6 install. As soon as I place tpl_what_new.php into my overrides directory, I get these 2 errors.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'm hoping you can help.

I just installed a new template at my store. The tpl_whats_new worked in Firefox and IE before I did this.

Now, it only works in Firefox and not IE.

yeah it seems to work ok for me. Im having issues with the product selection its picking. it seems to not be very random, starting at the same point with the same list every time i refresh it.

any clue on how to make it truely random?
