Good online merchant without montly fees

Hello, I am setting up my webshop and I set up an premier account at paypal. Althought they have credit card payments as an option I am very annoyed by the fact that when you get redirected to the paypal website it firsts asks you to pay with your paypal account and only has a little link saying 'Don't have a PayPal account? Click here'. According to me this is way to small and totally not clear that you can also pay with credit card. It appears to me that paypal just wants to get people to sign up with paypal instead of giving a good option for online shops to be able to accept credit cards. Therefore I would like to try another option. Maybe another company that would allow me to do this or a merchant account?

I would like to ask whether anybody can refer me to a good company with worldwide (or at least US and EU) online credit card payments possibilities or something like a merchant account without any montly fees. I've been looking at google checkout, but thats only available to the US. I've also considere worldpay but they have huge montly fees (well, i consider them a lot).

Does anybody know another good option to accept credit cards without paypal/google? Anything welcome!!

In my 5 years of being in business online, I know of no reputable merchant account that doesn't charge fees. If you need to accept payments online in real time, bite the bullet. Its a cost of doing business.

If you do not get tons of sales per day, then don't get a real-time merchant gateway, but use a terminal and manually enter your sales.

What terminal options would I then think of? Do you have any suggestions?

So in case I would not do a merchant account, paypal is the only option for me?
(google checkout is out of the questions.. only US.. )
