Warning after upgrade - configure.php is writable

I upgrade my zen cart and now I have the following warning:

Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: /home/hardt3/public_html/includes/configure.php. This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file.

I had previously posted this problem and was told to change the permissions but I don't know how to do that. I know something needs to be changed in my configure.php file but I don't know what. I am new to php and I have no idea what to do because I don't know how to change permissions. If someone knows what and where I am suppossed to put this information help me please. The company I am going with merchant account is looking at my site today and I need that warning to come off. Any ideas?

Don't know if you have cpanel or some other method to access your files. More info would help.

You're not changing anything IN the file ... you're changing the permissions OF or ON the file.

Right-click the file and choose Set Permissions from the list...

It's also worth noting that while DW is handy, it's not 100% reliable when doing bulk FTP jobs. Individual files are fine. But you may want to look at something like FileZilla for doing bulk file transfers (when you need to).

I finally figured it out thanks! I had to go to my control panel from my hosting company and change the permission, I'd never done that before so thanks for all the help!

    Hi,

In dreamweaver you can click with the right mousebutton on the file (in the remote window) wich you want to change permissions on and then select "set permissions", after that you can choose the right permission setting that you want in the popup window.

    Its very easy.

I have this issue but even though I have changed permissions to 644 the warning will not go away even with refresh and clear cache?

On some servers, you need to go to your Control Panel and use the File Manager to set the permissions to 444 ...

NOTE: this setting prevents you from overwriting the file until it is changed to 644, if you need to upload a new copy ...
