Customer Ordered Out of Stock Disabled Product!

In the past week, we have had (5) different customers order (5) totally different items that we manually placed as out of stock (so the product would not even show up on our webstore). At the top of each item’s product page, we can clearly see the confirmation in BOLD RED that each of these (5) products is DISABLED!

AND to make things even more confusing, we have checked our webstore site using two different browsers (IE and Mozilla) from two different computers and do not see these [disabled] items! If we cannot even see these [disabled] items, how in the world could someone buy them?

Cookies seem dubious -- how could one proceed thru checkout and CredCard authorization as such based on cached, old cookies?

Has any one seen this and if so can anyone kindly point me in the right direction to get to the bottom of this?

If no one has seen this happen, are there some hardcore Zenners out there who could give it a shot, offer up some hypothesizing or places to start?

I have done my best at searching the ZCart archives and other forums but no luck yet! I apologize if this issue or configuration is widely documented, I cannot find it anywhere - lots of close things, and lots of reverse things...but not our exact issue ...

And I normally wouldn’t post this as such but we are totally under the gun to get this taken care of. Each time we have to refund someone money for ordering an item we cannot supply, we lose money to the bank that handles the processing of the refund.

What are all your settings in Admin->Configuration->Stock
What product-type are these products based on ?

I do not feel comfortable revealing some of this info in such an open forum and I hope you understand. Below, however, is some info I am comfortable sharing that might be of help:

Stock Settings
Check stock level true
Subtract stock true
Allow Checkout false
Mark product out of stock ***
Stock Re-order level 2
Products status in Catalog when out of stock should be set to 0
Show Sold Out Image in place of Add to Cart 1
Product Quantity Decimals 3
Show Shopping Cart - Delete Checkboxes or Delete Button 3
Show Shopping Cart - Update Cart Button Location 3

Could you kindly point me to a document or use some other info?

Renner,

I think it will be fine for you to disclose the version of ZenCart that you are using and info about the webserver versions and mods you have installed, I do not see how that could hurt your site's anonymity, and it could be a contributing factor to the problem.

One thing I have come across is that the shopper visited the site previously, before the time when the product was marked out of stock, and the item was still saved in their cart upon return. I am not certain if this would occur the same way for a completely disabled product, but maybe?

Also, I would recommend checking through your entire product catalog to be sure there isn't another similar product by that name in another category. If the products were not linked, then the update for one of them would not have affected the other.

I just had this happen to me. Some one order a product that was set to out of stock and disabled. Why would this happen. I'm using v1.3.8. http://www.jhelectronics.com

Like wise I have experience this myself again today, we are currently using v1.3.7, I have had this happen once before(approx 1 year ago) but never got any info from the customer re browser etc.

The URL is the products URL but is disabled in the cart as it was when I had the issue. I have enabled it for you to have a look at.
