change log, a better way?

Would it not be a better way to just go through the change log, update and all of the files there and then delete the files that it says to delete, then put all of the files up and install, this winmerge thing, well lets just say, its a lot to wrap your head around, I guess its not good to say something bad about a free lunch, just wish there was and update install like the old updates.

maybe i should state this better. So if I go through and make a folder w/ all the files that have been changed, then add all the files of that from my site, then winmerge the two diffrent folders and see what has changed from there. then update that and install from there. wouldn't that work, or does anyone see a problem with this?
