Linking additional software to Zen Cart database.

I'm building a site for a client that sells both products and services.

Is it possible to install additional php software for scheduling appointments and reservations and link it to the existing Zen Cart database for the login and password? It's rather clumsy to have to sign up once to purchase and then again to schedule. Seems like if both apps use the same data (name, password, address, phone, etc), they should be able to call it up from the same database?

I'm (obviously) new to the PHP/MySql stuff. Am I just dreaming here or can it be done? Unless it's a very simple and common task, I"ll probably sub-contract a more experienced programmer.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

I'm sorry i can not help you with how to do it but i can tell you that this is a relative easy task to do. If you have the dbname and user credentials for access to the DB your other php script can connect and verify the data. Most php tutorials can explain how to connect to the db.

I've not understood well what you wanto to do, however:
    - exporting and examining the database you can decide if is better to add some field to a table or to add a vew specific table.
    - the scripts of zc are full of "query" to the database an you can see how they works for input, updating and retrieve data.

You can't do anything without knowing somethig of mysql.
