How to comment-out Option Type?

In the Product attributes

under option name > option type

you must choose an option type.

I have an downloadble product. I read on the forum I must choose radio button or Dropdown option. Which I have.

But is there any way to "comment-out" or somehow keep the Option Type from appearing on the view page?

Have you given the option name an option value. On my site I use radio buttons for the downloads, And I gave the option value as "Download PDF" and that is what is displayed next to the radio button

If you do not have an Option Name with an Option Value you cannot make an Attribute to connect the Download to ...

Could you not set up the option value with just a single space? It would then not display anything next to the radio button.

I tried it and you can create a option name that is empty (just hit spacebar once) and it will show up in the list. so if you set up a "blank" option name and a "blank" option value for it it will just display a radio button with 1 space on either side. But you still have to set up the rest of the attribute correctly (i.e. filename, default...etc)

I believe that surpressing the display of the radio button requires hacking the code somewhere. Somebody with more experience will have to work that one out.
