Feature product box - main page with categories

Hmmm... I thought this setting: "Filter Product Listing for Current Top Level Category When Enabled" determined whether or not it would pull products from sub-categories.

And, I tried a fresh 1.3.5 install and, as far as I remember, it worked correctly (i.e., it was grabbing products from sub-sub-cats). I even thought about starting over AGAIN with a fresh install, but it's impossible. We're launching in a few days.

If I'm missing something or misunderstanding, please let me know...

I have a few bucks I could pay someone or donate to ZC if I can get this resolved quickly.

Also I should say Ajeh, I've noticed the featured products box which displays on the "Shopping Cart is empty" page features the products from all categories -- and it IS grabbing products from sub-sub categories, etc.

I really don't want to be a pest here, it's just that we're relying on the featured products as a big part of our site -- so without this functionality, we're in trouble.

And, I've been at a dead end with this for over a month. Anyone have a suggestion?

You said you wanted all the featured products from a given Category on down ...

You did not say you wanted all of the featured products ...

What is it that you really want?

Note: v1.3.6 is out ... you should really upgrade to that

No, I want the normal functionality for the featured products box on the index_categories page: the featured box should include all featured products from within that category.

Sure, I'll upgrade as soon as I have two hours to do it right. What can I do to fix this bug though (or track it down)?

This is not a bug ... that is the way it is written:

1 All featured products

2 All featured products of the given Category's sub cats ...

You want to go beyond this and make a 3rd possibility ... pick a Cat and include all subcats and products anywhere in that branch ...

This is not built in to featured products at this time ...

It can be done ... it would take a lot of work to do it ... and it would take me longer to explain to you how to do it and get it working than to say hire me to write it for you ...

If the logic on the empty shopping_cart is good enough, then customize your existing featured products to use that logic ...

However, I think mines is more to do with a damaged file than a custom script. Can anyone take a look please?
