Default "Your shopping cart is empty!" error after adding item to cart...

"Your shopping cart is empty!" error after adding item,
Also, new users can't sign up... it just refreshes to a blank form

While my installation is an osCommerce, in searching the net I've seen that ZenCart seems to work the same way and people have reported similar problems with ZenCart. I was hoping I might find some help here.

I have an ssl installation... since installing the SLL, customers can not add items to their cart and new users can not register on the "sign up" page. When they complete the form it just seems to refresh the create an account form.

When you add an item to the shopping cart it takes you to the cart and displays a "Your shopping cart is empty!" error .

I've seen other threads that ask folks for the config file, so I'll paste it here. I'm removing the website reference, but I can PM to anyone who might need it to help.

Also, the SSL is issued with the full "www.(domain).net" address, not just "(domain).net".

    Thanks!!!

Also, I've just checked with my host and I'm told my cert is installed at:

    /home/(domainlogin)/public_html/

    for my domain:
    https://www.(domain).net

That seems like it might be important info in trouble shooting, so I thought I would share.

"Your shopping cart is empty!" error after adding item to cart...

I now have this problem and it is quite worrying.

However I am using Zen Cart, latest Version. What's Happening?

I add an item to the cart sometimes it says "Yor Shopping Cart is Empty" sometimes it adds the product, and most of the time I am limited to adding 2 products or so to the cart. I think it has something to do with sessions and Cache.

This site was transfered from a previous host but seem to be working fine. I have only just noticed this. I did notice however when I transferred the site that the user tracking doesnt work correctly.

I used the fix_cache_key and it said no updates needed taking place.

I would appreciate some help on this if any on knows whats going on.

    thanks

    Update,

It only seems to do this on the product listing page when i click the buy now button and not on the product info -which is good news but i still have to sort it out. I will look at the product info mod because I made some changes there.

Still not working I dont think it is that page.

It seems strange that it only happens on the product listing page though....

Since you just changed hosts, check this thread:

Yes thanks for this I had just been looking at that thread. I have tried doing as suggested by using a htaccess file in the root directory. It doesnt seem to do the trick.

I correct my earlier post and now realize it's not just doing on the product listing page - its doing it wherever i want to add product to the cart. My site is messing up big time.

originally when i changed host they changed the htaccess file and added a php.ini file - they seemed to know what they were doing. But they didnt fix the problem which at the time was the user tracking wasnt following users correctly.... I am under the impression that this may be related....

How about the Suhosin thing on your new host's server?

Are you using any kind of SEO URL mod?

Looks like the server changed my .htaccess file

    # File modified on Tue Feb 16 06:50:50 2010 by server
    # For security reasons, mod_php is not used on this server. Use a php.ini file for php directives
    # php_flag suhosin.session.encrypt off

Yes simple seo but it excludes shopping cart pages

In the config file i changed

    define('STORE_SESSIONS', 'db');
// for STORE_SESSIONS, use 'db' for best support, or '' for file-based storage

    to define('STORE_SESSIONS', ' ');

It seems to be adding them properly now (might need further testing) Although it does seem to be slow processing it.

I hope this is the right way of going about it and there will be no forseabele problems. Or whether my database has problems will need repairing. I would be interested to know where it stores the files also.
