new sideboxes

i have downloaded some of the sideboxes (login, news) but am not 100% sure where i need to install the files. i am using a customized template. do i place the sidebox files into the "default" locations or do i create new directories for my customized template and install them in these newly created directories?

Both of these add-ons have files that need to be placed in a variety of places, but both also come with installation instructions that explain this. If you could point us to the specific part of those instructions that you are having problems with, it will be easier to help you.

the read me file says:

NEW FILES:

/catalog/includes/modules/sideboxes/login_box.php
/catalog/includes/templates/template_default/sideboxes/tpl_login_box.php
/catalog/includes/languages/english/extra_definitions/login_box_defines.php

INSTALLATION:

The files are arranged in the same structure as Zen Cart

These can all be uploaded via FTP to your server as they are without any editing required.

You can just FTP the whole /includes directory to your site.


i did this and the sidebox did indeed work just fine. as a newbie to zencart, i want to make sure that i am putting files in the proper locations so that when i perform the next upgrade i will not lose any customizations.

i am still a little confused as to what files need to go into my "customized" folder as opposed to the generic zencart folders.
