remove products from shop when out of stock

I want to disable products from the shop when they are out of stock. I saw lots of settings in the admin for products when they are sold out.

But i don't see any option to disable these products in the shop for customers.

So customers may not see any products in the shop when they are sold out.

Is this an option in the admin which i didn't see?

go to admin/configuration/stock make sure the following are checked

Check Stock level is true
Subtract Stock Is True
Products status in Catalog when out of stock should be set to 0

When these are set the product will disable and not show on the catalog page.

if all this is in place and correct, make a test product with 1 in quantity and checkout completly using money order/check payment for only for testing, once you confirmed the test order, go back to the category where you placed the test product and see if it is gone.

If it is you have them set correctly.

thnx that worked. I've set the stock of a product on 0 before. The the product is still visible. But when there was one product in stock and that one was sold the product isn't visible anymore.

Setting the stock to 0 manually does not process the Product as an order does where it takes it from a products_quantity - XX to <=0 which then changes the products_status to 0 so that it does not show ...

When someone orders a product then it is out of stock, it removes the item totally out of the catalog....

how do you configure the product to still show in the catalog, but just show as out of stock?

In the Stock settings ...

Set it to keep the Product Status set to 1 not 0 and show as Sold Out so that they cannot add to cart ...
