    Default HTML email in version 1.2- can it be done?

    Our host's setup is stuck on ver. 1.2. Can i send html email from a ver. 1.2 store and if so, how?

    Thanks,

    Yes. HTML email support was added in v1.2.0

    1. Admin->Configuration->Email Options->use MIME HTML when sending = true
    2. Each customer must select HTML or text-only format for receiving messages. Text is selected by default.
    3. The HTML-formatted emails are produced via templates in the /email folder of your site
    4. Documentation on how the HTML email infrastructure works is included in the /docs folder of your site and/or the zip you have of Zen Cart.

    Found the docs. Says I can paste html into Newsletter but all I get is the template form's header and boilerplate after I send.

    What is the HTML you're pasting?

    What email client are you testing with?

    when you design a page in golive etc, you end up with content like this:
    HTML Code:
    <HTML>
    <HEAD>
    usually metatags here
    </HEAD>
    <BODY>
    blahblahblah
    </BODY>
    </HTML>
    You must ONLY paste the raw content from BETWEEN the <BODY> and </BODY> tags in your emails. Anything outside that will confuse the email clients.

    You must ALSO design all your email content according to HTML 1 and CSS 1 standards. Most email clients are not capable of consistently rendering anything newer than standards developed a couple decades ago.

    Well, i seem to have both the Send Email and the Newsletter editor in modes now where they are sending nothing. Tried it w/o html tags, and again, w/o html and body tags. Looks great in GoLive, but I get the feeling this feature was not stable in 1.2. Could just be me though as this is my first html newsletter attempt.

    I had tested the HTML email before without any problem.

    May be you can try the html code from the following site for test.

    Good idea. I also speculated that I just tripped over some new feature of CSS or hml that made the mailer misfire because it didn't know it.

    I tried this in a new email and a new newslter and received nothing. Also, I note the email Preview now shows this:

    Customer: James Lee
    From: sales AT tropic4 DOT com
    Subject: basic email test
    Rich Text Message:
    Text-Only Message:

    But no message, even if I just type simple text.

    Default HTML email in version 1.2- progress in Firefox, not Safari

    Progress of sorts. On a lark i switched to FireFox and tried again. I can now sent simple text, RTF, and html emails. The text and RTF look perfect. THe HTML is only showing one of the 3 columns of my newsletter.

    When I try newsletter manager, the send works now, but I get the raw html, not the newsletter.

    Anyway, this seems to be Safari related, maybe in a cache saved, or something like that becasue the entire emai and newsletter process is dead from Safari.
