Banner or Custom Boxes

First of all, is there a way to add custom boxes so that they appear in the layout box manager?

I first figured out that I could use the banner manager box for some javascript stuff. Anyone have a good christmas countdown module?

But then I realized I needed two of these and I only had one. The next one needs to be a image map for home parties.

So how can I add my own custom boxes. If I can?

You can download a blank sidebox from here.

You can install additional sideboxes simply by uploading the appropriate files to your site. They will automatically appear in the Layout Boxes Controller.

There are a number of contributed sideboxes available in the downloads section:

You're best to be sure to use override folders when installing your own sideboxes, so they are easily identified and separate from the core code.

/includes/modules/sideboxes/something.php

/includes/templates/template_default/sideboxes

If you follow the pattern set by those sideboxes you can see the methods used ...

Please dont get mad if I am wrong, Just a bit confused because there is no routing for
/includes/modules/templates/template_default/sideboxes

If I traced it correctly it should be
/includes/templates/template_default/sideboxes

If I am wrong, I do apologize and please let me know as I am only trying to learn zencart a bit better to fully customize my cart.
