Credit Card vs PayPal

Like so many others, Paypal module works great for weeks, even months. Then for no known reason - orders are not posted in Zen Store and the PayPal e-mail notification calls everything ITEM #1. The list of posts on this subject is endless. I note, however, that there seems to little, if any posts on the other Zen payment modules. I am led to believe that either no one uses the other modules OR they are relatively error free. I do not particulary want to pay $20-$30 month for gateway fees, merchant fees or whatever. But then - how much is the PayPal aggravation worth? Some advice, please, on which payment modules are the most stable AND are there any merchant card services that are recommended - or , should be avoided like the plague. Thanks
