Fatal error: Call to a member function Execute() on a non-object in session.php

I have successfully completed the installation process for zencart but when I access the store I get the following error:

Fatal error: Call to a member function Execute() on a non-object in session.php lin 61.

I found a thread in the archive about this issue but the resolution seemed to be to go back to PHP4 and an earlier version of mysql - neither of which are an option for me as the server is hosted by a provider company on a linux cluster and those changes would affect all their customers.

In addition while I can create new users they cannot login and I cannot access the Admin area - both of which rely on the ability to establish a session within the store which I cannot do.

Any suggestions would be appreciated as I have been unable to find very much on this in my searches of the forum.

Tried to attach the output from techsupp.php to this thread but it is 150KB PDF file and 30000 characters so is too big for the forum's limits.

After upgrading to PHP 5.2.0 I get same error.
Fatal error: Call to a member function Execute() on a non-object in session.php lin 61.
I cannot access the Admin area and store too.

I have ZC 1.3.0.2, PHP 5.2.0, MySQL 4.1.21

Yep, that's the one and MySQL 4.1.2
