    Default contents of .htaccess file

    Hi

    My hosting company has the "Register Globals" setting ON. I've looked through a few posts in this forum and it has been recommended to add the following code to .htaccess file in the site root:

    php_value session.use_trans_sid off
    php_value register_globals off
    <Files ".ht*">
    deny from all
    </Files>

    However, when I do this I get an Internal Server error page displayed. I get this if I remove the <Files ... /Files> too. See http://www.sparklefish.co.uk/index.php. Incidentally the .htaccess file is located in public_html/ and is 644.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Some hosts don't allow you to modify the .htaccess file. And/or if your host has PHPSUExec installed you won't be able to use any php_flag or php_value settings in your .htaccess - they will need to go into a separate php.ini file.

    You'll need to ask your host about this
