turn off "Total Items: 1 Weight: 0lbs Amount: $38.95"? and postcode

I need to turn off the shopping cart line"Total Items: 1 Weight: 0lbs Amount: $38.95"? or even just take the weight and price out of it.

I also need to make the postcode not required if the address is in a certain country (or if this is not pos then unrequired for everywhere)

I have read the tutorials and checked and unchecked all indicated radio buttons in various different combinations and permutations for both of these issues and nothing seems to affect them in the slightest.

Am really confused, cos changing something in admin has so far always produced a result, even if it was not the expected one.

Not positive what line you are referring to but I will take off on your term "total"

admin > shipping > Display Number of Boxes and Weight Status > set to "0" off

Configuration ... Layout Settings ...

Shopping Cart - Show Totals
Show Totals Above Shopping Cart?
0= off
1= on: Items Weight Amount
2= on: Items Weight Amount, but no weight when 0
3= on: Items Amount

thanks kobra and ajeh, but as i said, I followed what the tutorials siad, which is pretty much what you just said - this is having no effect at all!! nothing,nada, zip, zilch,zero I've tried evry option on thess two settings in every possible (that I can see) combination and still nothing......
