    SSL help

    hey all - thanks for help ahead of time (and thanks for great shopping cart).

    i've installed zc on my server - all goes well (http://www.mxmerch.com). templates, new boxes, everything is relatively easy so far.

    HOWEVER...

    i have installed an SSL cert on my domain as well (https://www.mxmerch.com) and it seems to be working ok (is there a good way to test it i don't know about?). i am new to the whole SSL thing...so a little help would be great here.

    after enabling secure checkout or admin, the links to those are no longer valid. in other words, if i choose to use security for admin purposes - i get a 404. i've left the admin unsecure so i could work on my cart, but i've left the checkout secure for purposes of troubleshooting (see here: https://www.mxmerch.com/index.php?main_page=login ).

    the certificate issued is to www.mxmerch.com - here is the config file:

    // Define the webserver and path parameters
    // HTTP_SERVER is your Main webserver: eg, http://www.yourdomain.com
    // HTTPS_SERVER is your Secure webserver: eg, https://www.yourdomain.com
    define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://www.mxmerch.com');
    define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://www.mxmerch.com');
    // Use secure webserver for checkout procedure?
    define('ENABLE_SSL', 'true');

    anyone with any ideas of where to start with troubleshooting???

    great links, kim, but they don't get in deep enough to help me troubleshoot the problem. is there a specific post addressing my problem (if there is i missed it)?

    Okay, your site uses the Plesk control panel - which is probably the worst control panel in existence today - they can "Reload" it as much as they like.

    Because the server was not set up correctly you are stuck with a two-folder system - one for httpdocs and another for httpsdocs.

    The reason your https pages don't work is that you have to load up a mirror set of files into the httpsdocs folder.

    Once you've done that and you're happy it's all working okay you can remove the zen admin folder from the httpdocs folder.

    ok....bad news...

    after copying my entire zc install to the httpsdocs directory, i'm just getting the default "there's nothing here error" when i try to use any php file. the files are THERE...(see https://www.mxmerch.com/install.txt), but trying to call the index file (https://www.mxmerch.com/) doesn't work. so...i'm assuming that while php is supported in the httpdocs directory...i'm screwed in the httpsdocs directory.

    so, does this mean that zen-cart is not the one for me? or am i missing something crucial?

    No, it means your host is not set up well. You should consider a host that specializes in ecommerce.

    If a two-folder system is being used - one for httpdocs and another for httpsdocs - then wouldn't the 'admin/includes/config.php' file need to reflect 'httpsdocs' path?

    Don't know if this helps. I have plesk 8 and there is a choice to run the http and the https in the same directory.
