Default Straight update with renamed admin folder

    Hi,

I have a zencart install thats not live yet but has lots of products on it.
my admin directory has been renamed...

Is there a way for me to do an inplace upgrade? as my admin table is naturally called something else at the moment.

    Many Thanks

    Alan

While I don't recommend blindly upgrading in-place, yes.

(It's better to do a test in an offline / non-live environment just to be fully comfortable that things are working as expected.)

On your live site, if your admin folder has been renamed, simply follow this approach:

    1. run zc_install via the browser to start the process
    2. while looking at the license screen, open your FTP program and rename your "admin" folder back to "admin". Leave the FTP program open.
    3. back in your browser, click through to the System Inspection screen. You'll see the Database Upgrade option enabled. Click it.
    4. back in your FTP program, rename your admin folder back to what you had called it previously
    5. finish your upgrade process in zc_install.

    Hi DrByte
Do you need to edit the 2 confiqure files so that they reflect the renamed admin folder or can you ignore them.
Are the paths in the 2 files used in the upgrade process?

They were excluded from my instructions because the internal contents of the admin config file is presently ignored during a database-upgrade.
