Did you fix this? I am not seeing any strange symbols ... if so, what was the solution?

    Hi,

Yes I found it late last night basically it was an A£ with a ' on the A !

It somehow got added when I upgraded

I went to currencies and the symbol was in there before the £ and removing it resolved it

    Thanks for the reply

This sort of thing seems to happen when exporting databases with one character set in phpMyAdmin and re-uploading using a phpMyadmin with a different character set.

Yes, but how do I get rid of it? I have just discovered BigDump which is fantastic for restoring a backup from PHPmyadmin and I am not sure which character set should be used when creating the backup - If I just leave everything as is then I get the same A character in front of the £ sign when doing the restore.

Just to mention that the A symbol is not showing in front of the £ sign in the currency setup but is in front of every £ sign in the SQL backup file.

    Hurrah!

Too blind for looking - just discovered in BigDump a setting for character set. Set this to the same character set as the one in the original database structure and hey presto all is OK.
