    Default Upgrading - Installation Folder

    Hi,

    I am in the process of switching over to ZC v1.3.6 from v1.2.7d. The advise I got from the FAQ is:

    ...This can be done easiest by renaming "store_new" to "store". (You'll have to rename "store" to something else first.) ...
    From the quote above, would I be right to conclude that I should have installed v1.2.7d in its own folder under /public_html at the Server? Something like /public_html/zencar127d? But installing ZC into its own folder would require visitors to key in www.myonlinestore.com/zencart127d/ which is undesireable.

    The issue I'm facing is that I've installed v1.2.7d into /public_html while v1.3.6 is installed in /public_html/zencart136. I'm upgrading to v1.3.6 but I don't suppose I can rename /public_html. I'm rather confuse, any advise would be greatly appreciated.

    When you are done, or think you are done with the upgrade testing of v1.3.6 ...

    The last stages would be:

    1 Set the Live Site to Down for maintenance ...

    2 Backup the Live Site database ...

    3 Empty the database table /zencart_v136 is using ...

    4 Load the backup of the Live Site database into the database for /zencart_v136 ...

    5 run the /zencart_v136/zc_install and UPGRADE the database ...

    6 test test test

    7 if all is right ... make a directory /old_shop

    8 edit the files in /zencart_v136 for the 2 configure.php files and change the paths only NOT the database name ... to reflect / vs /zencart_v136

    9 Move all files related to Zen Cart from the root as in /public_html to /old_shop

    10 Move all files in /zencart_v136 to the root or /public_html

    11 Move the /old_shop/images to /images ... remember they got moved when you moved all the files and directories to /old_shop

    12 test test test

    13 if all is right in the world, take the Live site ( this is actually now your new site which now runs from the Live Site / ) OFF of Down for Maintenance ...

    make sense?

    Just to add that I want to keep a backup of the current v1.2.7d files just in case I've to revert back to it. Thanks.

    Oops... Posted the above before noticing Linda's reply.

    3 Empty the database table /zencart_v136 is using ...
    Would that be dropping and re-creating the zencart_v136 database (I named mine: mystore_mydb136)?

    8 edit the files in /zencart_v136 for the 2 configure.php files and change the paths only NOT the database name ... to reflect / vs /zencart_v136
    I have to change this:
    define('DIR_FS_CATALOG', '/home/mystore/public_html/zencart_v136/');
    to:
    define('DIR_FS_CATALOG', '/home/mystore/public_html/');

    and to point to the newly upgraded DB at step 5:
    // define our database connection
    define('DB_DATABASE', 'mystore_mydb136');

    Am I missing anything?
