Changed server--payment module/paypal no longer works

Hi there,

Ive been going bonkers trying to figure this out without asking. Ive read hundreds of threads...

I have three zen carts. The second one (the original) is running 1.2.6 (I know, I know--I just haven't had time yet).

I changed servers. Moved everything over, and thought everything was ok like the other two zen carts I moved and tested.

Had a client call and say they couldnt see any payment options, so I uninstalled the paypal module and reinstalled. When you get to the select payment page, you see this:

Payment Method

This is currently the only payment method available to use on this order.

OK, I thought, not the end of the world, so I clicked next, and it would error, saying " Please select a payment method for your order." Well--there are no payment choices to choose from, so it won't continue.

So then, I deleted the includes folder and re-uploaded (yes, via cuteFTP). Then, suddenly I could get to page 3. I called the client back and told them to retry. They did, but when they clicked to confirm their order, it took them back to the index.php page, with the items still in their cart, and no order. NOT to the paypal page.

So, tonight, I deleted the modules folder and reinstalled. Problems are back to square one--can't see any payment options. Shipping options are fine, btw.

I then installed the money order module and uninstalled paypal and reinstalled paypal. Still can't see payment methods, nor get past step 2.

Before I get out the sledgehammer on my innocent monitor, would someone please be a peach and shed some light on this?

Check to see if you have zones on PayPal ...

Otherwise, it could just be FTP issues with CuteFTP and your server ...

Personally, I use FlashFXP as I have 0 problems with FTP issues in the last several years since I got it ...

whats crazy, is that the other two work fine. This one, suddenly, is possessed by the devil. There are no zones on in paypal.

I guess I oughtta break down and upgrade...

If I do upgrade, can I just ftp the new zen files over top of the old ones, then run the database version of ZC_INSTALL?

I realize ill need to tweak the templates and the pages again.

Backup both your site and your database ...

If a Live site, do a search for:
/new_shop

and read through some of the detailed posts on this ...

If not Live ... you can get away with blowing up your site if you totally moofy it up ...

and just restore the backups ...

Then, load all of v1.3.6 to your server via FTP ...

Run the /zc_install and UPGRADE the DATABASE ...

Then check your templates and overrides against the new originals to see if you need any updating to them ...

ps--on your advice, I downloaded flashFXP today. Seems much more reliable than cute 6. If this continues Ill register it.

Also, I got a stuffer in my Comcast bill today offering 10 more mb worth of internet bandwidth for $10 more a month. I signed up this afternoon. Wow.

Umm ... 10mb for $10 a month for bandwidth for what exactly?

Comcast (an ISP) sells high speed cable internet. Their standard plan is 6mbps and about *** a month. For $10 more you can get 16mbs (*** per month). I clocked it at dsltests.com and its actually only 10mbps but still, its blazing fast.

I upgraded from 1.27 to 1.36 per your instructions and it went fine. Its back up and just needs a few minor css tweaks. The new classic template is green coincidentally, so that was helpful :)
