I live in the UK and I suspect my mobile provider doesn't offer this service, however I have signed up with an SMS gateway and it works perfectly, it means that I have to pay for the texts but it's worth it.

I tried to add an extra line to your code to include the number of items purchased but it didn't work, i used $order->products[$i]['qty']. Could you tell me what variable I would have to use to add the number of products purchased?

This would not be so much a rework as a complete rewrite from scratch. Of course, you would also need to capture the SMS to email gateway address at registration time. But yes, it could certainly be done.

I would like to change the output of the sms to:

Name: [First name] [last name]
Products: Violin Bow
Payment Method: Paypal
Total: $193.90

At the moment the code is: $email_text = $order->customer['firstname'] . " " . $order->customer['lastname'] . "\n" . $order->info['total'] . "\n";

wat do I need to add to get the output i want?

You only have 140 characters to work with, so it's a bit risky to do things like list products.

Zen Cart operators outside the US who do not have an email to SMS gateway as part of their mobile service may wish to use Twitter as a mechanism to generate SMS messages when a sale occurs. Instructions for integrating the Twitter API into SMS on Sale are provided in the SMS on Sale Help Page at

Of course you would want to use a Twitter account which is not on the public timeline.

I just installed this on a 1.3.8 site, and it works great, but includes the Can-Spam footer that comes with 1.3.8 (Didn't see that in .7) and I'm not sure how to turn it off. It turns a short text into a longer 2 part one that I'm sure I'll get charged more for.

Any thoughts?

i think i get this too i just upgraded yesterday to 1.3.8a and when i get an order, text comes in and a whole thing about i sent this message to myself blah blah blah. what can we look at to get rid of this added on junk

thanks i just made the change to the functions email file
