    red flag Could not receive Password Forgotten Email

    Hi,

    I have problem with sending email to clients. For debugging purpose, the email archive is enabled and I have confirmed that all emails sent are archived. According to http://www.zen-cart.com/wiki/index.p...Email_Problems , it is said that If it's in the archive, it was handed off to the mailserver. Once the email leaves Zen Cart™, it's at the mercy of your mailserver.

    So can I confirm that the problem does not happened due to ZenCart configuration, but resides in my mail hosting site?

    This is the settings done at Admin -> Configuration -> Email Options
    E-Mail Transport Method : smtpauth
    Email Address (Displayed to Contact you) : admin@MYDOMAIN.COM
    Email Address (sent From) : admin@MYDOMAIN.COM
    SMTP Email Account Mailbox: admin@MYDOMAIN.COM
    SMTP Email Account Password : MY_ADMIN_PWD
    SMTP Email Mail Host: mail.MYDOMAIN.COM
    SMTP Email Mail Server Port: 25

    Also for debugging purpose , I have turned on " define('EMAIL_SYSTEM_DEBUG','on'); ". The email content is shown correctly with password given, however, I did receive a warning as shown below, which I guess has no harm but just to raise out its existence.

    Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at MYDIR/includes/functions/functions_email.php:360) in MYDIR/includes/functions/functions_general.php on line 41


    Any clue??

    Before making these changes, I could actually receive new admin password previously. The email is successfully sent from ADMIN GMAIL to the same ADMIN GMAIL addr. The Email Options settings is default as shown below:

    E-Mail Transport Method : sendmail
    Email Address (Displayed to Contact you) : myemail######################
    Email Address (sent From) : myemail######################
    SMTP Email Account Mailbox: NOT SET
    SMTP Email Account Password : NOT SET
    SMTP Email Mail Host: NOT SET
    SMTP Email Mail Server Port: NOT SET


    But this settings does not work for Password Forgotten Email, and thus I change to settings in #1, which STILL doesn't work.

    1. Using gmail for your SMTP server is not fully supported in Zen Cart.
    2. If you are using Zen Cart v1.3.6 or higher, try using the "PHP" method for "Email Transport".

    Hi DrByte,

    1) I have changed to a specified mail domain, instead of gmail.
    2) I am using Zencart 1.3.5. Does this version has email settings-related problems?

    Now, the hosting company has confirmed that settings at #1 is correct. But I just couldn't get the password forgotten email sent into my mailbox (a testing yahoo acc). Is it possible due to smtpauth agent problem? buffer? spooling issue...?? I am not familiar with phpMailer nor SMTP configuration...

    It has some SMTP problems, yes.
    Also, the PHP option was added to 1.3.6 for greater versatility with more hosts.
    v1.3.7 had a few more enhancements for efficiency.

    Might be wise to install a 1.3.7 site and test the emails. Then consider whether to upgrade or not.

    I'm using 1.3.8a, and don't receive emails (specific domain) of forgotten passwords. I've tried php, smtp and smtpauth for the email transport method, but none work. The site in question is www.vermontdesignsunlimited.com.

    Any thoughts?

    I can't get emails sent to a yahoo.com account to reset password. I get a bounce back message that says:

    This message was created automatically by mail delivery software.

    A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its
    recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:

    XXXXX[at]yahoo.com
    Mail sent by user nobody being discarded due to sender restrictions in
    WHM->Tweak Settings

    Can this be fixed w/ a setting in the Zen Cart admin or is it a web host problem.

    Any leads on this? I'm not getting my password reset emails.

    If it is a hosting config problem, could anybody tell me what to start looking at. My hosting company, so far, has been unable to fix this problem.

    I have no other email problems, just that customers who forgot their emails never gets their emails with the new password...
