    Default CC process error even though cards enabled - goemerchant

    Hi all. I'm set up on version 1.3.6. I have my own SSL and certificate, both installed and operational.

    Visa and Mastercard are both enabled in Configuration>Credit Cards

    When I use the ZenCart basic cc module, everything works fine.

    When I try using the goemerchant payment module (downloaded from here), I get the following error when I try to process:

    payment_error=goemerchant&error=The+credit+card+number+starting+with
    ++was+not+entered+correctly%2C+or+we+do+not+accept+that+
    kind+of+card.+Please+try+again+or+use+another+credit+card.

    Looking in the faq here, I see that that's normally an error message one gets when the credit cards are not enabled in Configuration>Credit Cards, but mine *are* configured. I get the same message in both Test and Production mode, with test and real credit card numbers.

    Any clues? Or is this something solely on goemerchant's end? Thanks!

    this is going to be on the merchants end.

    make sure that you are setup to take all 4 card types,
    this might incure additional charges for Discover and Amex

    Thanks for the quick response.

    My merchant account is only set up for MC and Visa, so that's what I enabled -- you're saying that I need to take all four? I'm not sure I'm understanding.

    What are the first 6 digits of the CC number you're testing with, and how many digits total ?

    Hmmm ... visa cards follow the pattern of:
    - starts with a 4
    - has either 13 or 16 digits

    I'm more concerned about something in the module ... the error message says:
    The+credit+card+number+starting+with
    ++was+not+entered+correctly
    The double ++ suggests that it left out the digits altogether while processing ... normally it would have said +4305+ instead of ++ in your example.

    This suggests that the module is either not receiving the digits properly or is sending bad digits to the internal validation code.

    You said that using the basic CC module is fine, which suggests that it's a config or code problem in the goemerchant module.

    Another question: Is this happening when you enter the card number and click Continue, or is it happening after you go to the confirmation page and click Confirm to submit the payment ?

    Hi Dr. Byte -- thanks for getting back to me! The error is happening on the initial payment page -- where the credit card is initially submitted. When you hit the 'Continue' button, the page simply reloads, with that error message displayed in the browser's Address Bar. The same thing happens whether the module is set in Test or Production mode.

    Peggy:

    Did you ever get an answer as to wheter only taking Visa and MC was an issue? I'm in the same boat and from what I've found I don't want to take Amex or discover either.

    After deciding to go with goemerchant myself, I found errors as well and the existing download did not support CVV2.

    I've been working with emerchant tech support, Richie Byrd, and he's updated the module to accept Cvv2 and allows you to enter their gateway prefix and login id. I'm still in test mode with them, but hope to have something finalized by the end of the week.

    cjburch -- I'm impressed! I never had much luck working with Richie Byrd. Please do let me know if the new module works. I'm on the verge of dumping goemerchant because I'm sick of having to enter my orders by hand.
