Ok I finally figured out how to upgarde Zen Cart from 1.3.6 to 1.3.7 if you used fantistico to auto install 1.3.6,you need to do the following.


1.with a fresh copy of version 1.3.6 download the new version of Zen Cart off this site and unzip it.

2.Overwrite all the old files for your store with the new ones.Leave the permissions set to 644.

3. Then upload the zc_install folders AND files.

4. Then click on the index.php file in the zc_install folder.

5. A page will open and welcome you to the Zen Cart upgrade page.

6.ONLY DO A DATABASE UPGRADE IF YOU HAVE A MODIFIED STORE.That way you don't loose any of you store files or settings.

7.Reset you config.php files to 444 or 644 premissions.

admin/includes/config.php
catalog/includes/config.php

8.Delete the zc_installl folder off your web server or you will get an error message.


This only took me 30 minutes to do,and I don't know a thing about PHP OR MYSQL. I just did it by trial and error. Hope this help you guys out some.

That Fantastico performs the install and also makes a DB name and DB password up as part of their install script. If One might ever need this information it is in your configure.php files

Fantastico still reports the latest version as 1.3.6 even though I have forced an update through WHM.

Well - there's that, but ...

I'd prefer to install it to Fantastico anyway because it's altogether possible that one of the other users of the server would want to install it, and I really don't relish the thought of babysitting them through it.

you could always just upload the files make a .tar then do a 3 minute install
