Default Where do I find includes/languages/ENGLISH/index.php file

Help A newbie.

I keep reading about editing in includes/languages/ENGLISH/index.php
and /languages/english/html_includes/classic/ file and various other files, and that I need to open them in a text editor to make changes or modify them.

1. How and where do I find these files and how do I open them?
2. Can I use a text editor such as notepad++?
3. Or do you recommend something else?
4. Once edited, how do I upload them to my server, or save them in a CUSTOM file?

I know these are probably very basic questions, but I'm a basic beginner at this.
Thanks for your help.

Hi there,

The file should be in the main directory of your zen cart folder.

To edit includes/languages/ENGLISH/index.php

Open the zen cart folder > look for the folder named "includes" and open it > then look for the "languages" folder and open it > in there is a folder named "english" open it in there is index.php

So are the other folders and files you are after

includes/languages/ENGLISH/index.php
1. How and where do I find these files and how do I open them?
This is in standard PC like tree structure and they are on your hosting account in the public_html, home, or other name some use. Opening see below
2. Can I use a text editor such as notepad++?
Exactly, not a word processor. just a straight text/code editor and NP++ is good if you are familiar with it.
3. Or do you recommend something else?
If you downloaded the fileset to install this then you have the files locally, if not see the download link above and get the same version that you have installed. You then find the files and make your edits.
4. Once edited, how do I upload them to my server, or save them in a CUSTOM file?
Get a FTP client program, filezilla is free and reported to be rock solid. Google for filezilla. Use this to create an FTP session and upload the files to their respective directories.....or the template named folders that you create to support your template. Read the FAQ's and the wiki on template creation and the override system now and save yourself trouble later
