cancelling/deleting orders?

Hello, my apologies for the dumb question, but how do you delete/cancel and order?

I was able to create a new status called "Cancelled", but naturally that is just a flag and doesn't tell the system that the order has been cancelled (i.e. returning the products to inventory).

Is this possible to do?

if you go to your orders in admin, under customers heading will be orders, click on the i for info need the one to delete and then select delete

i think it asks if you want to return the product to the store (back up for sale) but can't quite remember

I must be going crazy... but i'm certain i looked there last night and didn't see a delete button. weird...

please remember that actually deleting orders and order numbers is a bad idea,
the IRS doesn't like missing order numbers,

they have been known to assign all missing order numbers an average value and increase what they say you earned.

best to leave the orders there and just mark em cancelled, voided or what ever

I see... but then it is possible to return the items to inventory? easily without going in and adjusting the inventory of the product?

My work-a-round for this is that I print the order/invoice to be cancelled, write on it "cancelled" and why it was cancelled, file it with my orders in case I get audited and the delete the order from Zencart.

Great idea.. I will suggest this to my clients.. Might seem like an extra step, but it seems much easier than marking the order cancelled and then manually returning the items to inventory.. It would be nice to see a feature in a future release which allows the store owner to cancel and order and return the items to inventory and leave the order in the order history for both the customer and store owner to see..
