    Default .htaccess

I am uploading the files to the server and I get .htaccess is not allowed. All other files are fine. What are the .htaccess files for and are they needed. Thanks

Yahoo is my host and they use Apache servers.

htaccess has many uses including mod_rewrite and limiting access at certian levels - you need to check with the host to see what their restrictions are on this - alternatively you might try dropping the leading dot and uploading it then rename it with the leading dot once on the server

You may want to do a search on the forum for Yahoo and see if others using them have reported problems.
