Back Button leads to Page Not Found 404 error

I'm using 1.3.7, and whenever I click on a back button on any page that has one, such as "Gift Certificate FAQ", it takes me to the Page Not Found custom 404 Error page, or back to the index or main page.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

I've just detected this old post. As I'm faced with the same problem in my new shop v1.3.8 (German) my question is, if you've found any solution on this bug?
