    Default linked product navigation

    Hi All,

I have two product categories and some products linked in between. Say I have 5 products in the first one and 7 in the second one. Two of these are linked (say 2 and 3 from the first category to 4 and 5 to the second category).

I pull up the product list of the second category and start navigating the products by the Prev/Next buttons. When I get to product 5 and press Next instead of going to product 6 it goes to product 4 of the first category.

The numbering of the products at the top of the page (above Prev/Listing/Next) changes as well (seems to switch to the other category).

How can I make the Prev/Next buttons in both categories to navigate the categories themselves even when linked products are used?

    Thanks

I'm guessing here, but have you got the Master Categories correctly set?

I don't think master categories can fix this problem. I do have them correctly set, they can point to either of the two categories. The problem is when I am not in the master category and hit the linked product during navigation suddenly the Prev/Next numbering and the breadcrumbs switch to the master category and the user has no way to get back to the category they were originally navigating (apart from starting everything all over again of course).

I am a software engineer working with user interfaces and would consider this a major usability problem.

I traced this down. It is because I am using the SEO URLs mod and by default it does not add the cpath to the URL. The result being that URLs become too simple and two products will have the same URL. Telling the SEO URL mod to include the cpath into the URL fixes the problem.

I am not sure I need this SEO URL thingy in the first place, but that's another day's work.
