Product and Main Page

Before adding the first product, my main page (Home) center content is just the way I want it. But as soon as I add a product, that product appears as the center content of the home page instead of the welcome info and image.
If I go back and delete the added product the main page pulls up fine.
Noticed there is only one choice in the Go To: drop down ( Top ).
Must be doing something wrong.
Any help appreciated.

It's not on a public server yet, just my home PC with Apache and MySql.

Under what heading?? New products - featured items - etc...

Look oin admin > config > Index Listing > and check the setting for the heading that you want to turn off

The heading is "product name" and appears to the right of the image instead of at the top like with All Products.
The bread crumb at the top is (Home :: product name). There is a left sidebox (New Products [more]).
The New Products box link path is http://localhost/catalog/index.php?m...products_id=12.
The Home links paths are http://localhost/catalog/.
Yet clicking either link brings up the same page content, ie the New Product content.

Ah! Well, decided to add a second product anyway. Bingo! The home page is back the way it should be. Yeah, that seems strange. Probably still some embedded editing or flag I didn't get right.

You might look at how you are adding products???

You should create a category first and then add products to that category

Removed the product and created a catagory. Then added the product back. All is well. Sheeesh!
