This is going to become a good thread.... I lost my replies for some of the same questions... I am also a newbie and am about to start attempting to use Easy Populate to upload store data back into the database... I have the same question... Setup an excel file with ALL the sore products or just the new ones...
I hope it is ALL products... This will make it easy to use excel to mange the product stock, especially the first upload of products, descriptions and and images... We are going to need help here..I can already feel it..smile

    Project,
Are u using the EasyPopulate reference Excel file "AS IS" to insert your new products ?? Or do we have to REMOVE fields that are unused... I am thinking I should leave as its ?? I will be getting ready to try this soon.....
I am using ver: Easypopulate v2.75a-Zen-Cart 1.2 (with attributes)

OH MY ! I think I got this already....
The EP Database created the TXT file I used to IMPORT into EXcel...
From here I can ALTER the Entire Store database add , delete , mod...whatever... and Place this new TXT file back on the server for IMPORT back into the Database.... I ASSUME (hate doing that) the Database will incorporate ONLY the item IN the NEW TXT file... we shall see...

Steve, since you already have a product in place
    just use EP to download,
you can then use the downloaded file as a map to add your new products

    Merlin,
Thanks... all worked as the programmers planned...
Not sure I have it all in my head yet but I was successsful !
Thanks to u and the other gent...
I see that products are not replaced if they exist, only if they are changed...
New items appear to be added if they have a model number assigned.... another 200 products did not get added because I did not populate the model number as a test... BUT..thanks to you guys all appears that I can get this off the ground and really test it...
MANY THANKS.... more testing tomorrow !
    Thank You !
