Why can't I log into Admin area

I have installed on SuSE Linux 10.2 with Apache2/PHP5/MYSQL5 I set the admin user ID and password but when I try to log in the fields are just cleared and nothing else happens. When I try 3 times it just says I have entered the wrong ID or password when I know I have not done this...

That sounds more like a website password ...

Zen Cart only has a password on a white screen asking for:
Admin username:
Admin password:

It is a white blank page with just User ID and password fields, entering the correct ID and password does not do anything but clear the fields.

Does it specifically read:

Admin username:
Admin password:

And then a link to Resend Password?

Does your Catalog load correctly?

Can you click the Login Link on the catalog and create an account without errors?

Yes it has all these and I have created a new account ok. I have tried the resend password but trying the new password does not work and gives the same problem

Well ... let's assume the worse and reset the admin login via php ...

cannot locate the file phpMyAdmin in order to follow this instructions. where is this file supposed to be?

cannot find the phpMyAdmin at all, is this a windows based file, if so I am running on Linux/apache2. I have checked admin.php and it tells about TABLE_ADMIIN but I cannot find this in any file or document in the zen-cart folders so where is it supped to be....??? can anybody please help as this is getting very frustrating now. What is supposed to be a simple job of install/configure appears to be a wrong description of this program.

I have created a new log in acount and it sent the confirmation email but when I try to log in usingthis it still shows as a guest asking if I want to login...WHY???

I had the same issue this morning. It turned out to be a problem with:

found a php issue in the php.ini that was causing the issue.

The guy that handles my server account was able to fix it. But it was the same exact problem you were having as well as customers with exisiting accounts could not log in a well.

This is ther error message at the top of the page when a user (customer) tries to login:
