New store needs to upload +1500 products.

I am procrastinating putting the 1500+products in my new store mostly because I do not want to type them in one at a time. Is there an easier solution or a batch upload? I am switching from Miva Merchant 5.0 to Zen Cart and so far that is my only complaint. My current store at http://www.hotnbottled.com would benefit from the feature rich Zen Cart, I just hope I can open the new store in the next week or so instead of the next month.

search for user Langer,
there is a link in their signature for easy populate,
it will let you put your information in csv and import it

I am using version 1.3.7. I can not seem to get the standard version to work for my store. I installed as directed and the mod will export the data, but I am unable to import. does the standard mod work for this version of ZC?

I am getting an 406 error when I try to upload a file to the db.
Not Acceptable: An appropriate representation of the requested resource /~hotnbott/catalog/admin/easypopulate.php could not be found on this server.

I checked the location of easypopulate.php to see if it was in the admin folder using the cpannel - file manager and it is there. Do you have any idea why it says it is not there?

It works for me with that version (new at this).

Hi
I have done this several times via PHPMyadmin.
I normally add one Product via admin Backend , then download the whole Db via Phpmyadmin, look at where the new Product is stored (normally in table products, product_description and attributes if applicable. Then I copy the relevant line and make a new excel spreadsheet adding the various column
Then you can "bind" all the columns together with this excel formula: =A1&B1&C1 and so on (as example) Then you need to copy and paste special into a new column Use PASTE SPECIAL and tick VALUES. You then have the correct mysql formula to post back in PhPmyadmin
You can easily import thousands of Products and other things this way

This Excel file (zen_insert.xls) is based on the concept laid out in JuxiZoza's post on updating the database using MySQL scripts created in Excel.

To familiarise you should review this post:

It would help you understand the process if you actually build the update file per his instructions, but it isn't strictly necessary. Zen_insert.xls is based on the same concept, except it generates INSERT rather than UPDATE commands. To produce correct syntax, I found it easiest to put the comma, semicolon and brackets in the top left corner with the other items, and I add them to the command as and when needed.

This is a huge time saver when inserting multiple products. You can use it to insert data into any of the tables...the worksheets in this table are some I have used.
