Default getting error after importing db backup

OK, here's the situation; I have an existing 1.2.6d cart and want to install a second cart that is a clone of the original one.

I downloaded the 1.2.6d install files and installed a new cart in a new folder. I created a new mysql database for it and oaded the demo products with the install. It seemed to work fine.

Then I did backup from the original zencart database using phpmyadmin.

I then dropped the tables from the new database and imported the backup from the original one.

Now I get an error; 1146 Table 'credence_zc2.configuration' doesn't exist.
(credence_zc2 is the name of the new database).

(this same error message comes up when I try to run the installer again to update the db)

How on earth can I do this? It would seem to be such a simple thing, all I want is a second zencart that is a clone of the first one, why is this such a pain in the proverbial posterior ?

    Many Thanks :)

Did your original database tables use prefixes?

I think it just defaults to 'zen_'

If you have prefixes on one database and no prefixes on the other ... there will be errors ...

I am not sure how you are trying to create your 2nd database ...

You should be able to export the original database, go to the 2nd database which should be empty of all tables, and import the copy of the first database ...

If the 2nd database is not empty before importing, try dropping the tables so that you are starting with an empty database without predefined tables ...

NOTE: your export of the original database needs both structure and data in order to create the new database ...

I did drop all tables before importing the old db backup and the backup contains structure and data.

I am now trying going back through the installer and adding the prefix zen_ which is present in the old db

Default Re: think I am on the right track now

    Thanks Ajeh,

Based on your mention of the prefixes I went back to the db setup in the installer and added the same prefix 'zen_' and now it seems to be operating from the restored backup properly, so it's just a matter now of bringing in the other customised files.

    Cheers,
    Sheryl
