Installing Zen Cart v1.3.7 Errors! No CSS, plus more!

After following instructions to the letter I have found that I have a very unuseable Zen Cart! I also see others are posting similar problems!

Problems are :-

• No CSS in either the store area or admin area
• On admin page 'Error on Page' 'Line 46' 'Object Expected'
• Unable to chmod 'user/htdocs/includes/configure.php' using CuteFTp. Other chmod worked OK (admin)

The usual cause for these problems on a clean install is that your FTP app faltered during the upload process and not all files made it to the server intact.

You may also need to change file permissions (to 444) via your host's control panel.

Hi Ryk. I re uploaded the package several times over the top of the previous uplad. Both using automatic settings and Binary. Still the same problem persists. There is no CSS being applied the the main site nor the admin area.

It looks to me as though your files are arriving safely, but your server is not allowing them to be accessed. If you have access to your servers error logs they may tell you why, alternatively ask your webhost why you get an Internal Server Error 500 when visitors try to access files such as

http: // www.partypoppets.co.uk / includes / templates / classic / css / stylesheet.css

Sometimes hosts set the security too high, preventing even legitimate access to files on the server.

Thanks Kuroi. I spoke to my host and we traced the fault to the '.htaccess' file in the 'includes/' folder. Renaming it to 'old.htaccess' allowed the css to load and the site no loads OK.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

For future, do I need the '.htaccess' files?
